Description:

Fine dark impression of this attractive view of post-fire London, by Haffner & Rupprecht.

The view shows the newly completed domed St Paul's and the many spires of Wren's London towering across the Thames. The view also shows old London Bridge, that was eventually demolished in 1831. An extensive key, given in both Latin and German, identifies the many buildings of note in London and good detail is also apparent in Southwark where both the Swan and the Globe theatres are named. A carriage and men on horseback adorn the foreground of this view and the arms of the City are given next to the title banner.

While the view is not rare, this seems to be an unusually fine dark impression and a good even plate strike on each plate, while most copies on the market appear to be much weaker impressions or relatively uneven plate strikes.
