Description

Highly detailed larged format Cadastral Map of Morristown, New Jersey.

Th map is prepared on a scale of 200 feet : 1 inch and includes streets, buildings, railroad lines, commercial and private land owner names, rivers, lakes, parks, public buildings, cemetaries, and a host of other details. Even the shape of the structures and the relative locations of each structure are included. Reference key includes the name of 43 land owners.

George L. Hull was the Recorder and City Surveyor of Morristown. He was also a City Councilman and a member of the Board of Freeholders. He died at the age of 28 in May of 1879.

OCLC lists 3 examples (Rutgers, Morris County Library and Morristown Free Public Library). Also listed in Phillips, but NOT in Snyder. Provenance: Dawson & Nye, 1995 (Lot 458--sold 2 other maps, an 1853 map of Morris County by Shields and the 2nd edition of the Gordon map of New Jersey).
