Fine example of Faust's map of San Francisco, one of the most striking and detailed pocket maps of the period.

Faust's map provides a highly detailed look at San Francisco at the beginning of the 20th Century and on the eve of San Francisco's great earthquake of 1906. This map has an inset showing a broader view of the Bay area, and a legend that explains some of the features of the map, such as ward boundaries and street car routes.

Henry W. Faust issued at least 17 editions of his map of San Francisco both in pocket form (accompanied by a street directory, city guide, or both, or neither) and as wall maps. All editions of this map are uncommon and sought after. The most recent example at auction made $650 and $800 (Old World 2006 and 2007). Printed by Galloway Litho. Co. of San Francisco.
