Description

Rare Lithological Map of North America, prepared based upon observations from noted French Geologist Achille Ernest Oscar Joseph Delesse.

The map indicates that it is "exécutée d'après les travaux hydrographiques par M. Delesse" (executed according to the Hydrographical work of Delesse), but we have been unable to locate any information suggesting that Delesse travelled to North America or studied its hydrography.

The map is very rare, with only 2 examples located in American institutions (UC Berkeley and University of Chicago).
