Important early map of West Africa, which includes information from the reports of the Dutch Merchant Samuel Blommaert, whose recently reported journal would have been available to Sanson shortly before the publication of the map.

The westward flowing Niger rises in the mythical "Borno Lacus" in the middle of the desert, and the interior is divided into tribal regions.
