Description
Rare caricature map of Europe, with Title and Text in two languages describing the allegorical nature of the images. England is an Old Lady, Scotland is her mob-cap, Ireland a rebellious lap dog. Spain is a fat lady lying on her back and smoking, Prussia a miltitary monster, Russia a rag-collector, Turkey a young girl smoking a hooka, etc. Very wide margins. The name Hadol appears as the illustrator and we have also found attribution to the map being done by Joseph Goggins. Only 1 prior dealer catalogue record (Hoppen, 1984).
