Description: Fascinating map of North America, which provides generally accurate and not outlandish cartographical features. The NW Coast of America pre-dates Cook's 1st Voyage and includes the reported Russian Discoveries. Among the more interesting features are the appearance of the mythical River of the West connecting Aguilar's entrance north of SF Bay with a river system just SW of Lake Winnepegand the various notes of explorers on the West Coast, including the discoveries of Juan De La Fuca, Tchirikow and the supposed discoveries made by the Chinese Geographer Fousang. From Dunn's New Atlas or Mundane System of Geography, printed for Sayer & Bennett at 53 Fleet Street, London. The true first state of the map. Wide clean margins and strong thick paper.
