Description: First edition of the second earliest map of Philadelphia by the famous team of Scull and Heap, which appeared in the August 1753 issue of the Gentleman's Magazine, the year following the publication of Scull & Heap's map. Richly illustrated with houses, roads, rivers, neighboring towns, etc. References meeting houses, dwellings, landowners' names, etc. Decorative cartouche. One of the earliest maps of Philadelphia. Predates all listed maps of Philadelphia in Phillips. Predated only by the original Scull and Heap map released the prior year. Narrow partial right margin, as issued.
