Description

"... generally described as the greatest work in the history of science." - PMM

First edition in English of Newton's Principia in a handsome binding.

The first edition was released in Latin in 1687, with a subsequent edition appearing in 1713. Andrew Motte, the publisher's brother, translated this edition and also supplied the engravings for the frontispieces and headpieces. At the conclusion, there is an inclusion of John Machin's failed effort to amend Newton's lunar theory.

London: Printed for Benjamin Motte, 1729.
